Bemerton is our take on a classic 'pilot' shape, constructed from high grade stainless steel, with titanium nosepads. As well as a brow bar, Bemerton features scalloped temple tips and intricate laser engraved detail.
Bemerton is named after Bemerton Street in northern King's Cross. In the 19th century, this area around the railwaylands of northern King's Cross become synonymous with Victorian overcrowding. Much of Bemerton Street and the surrounding area was demolished in the 20th century, as part of wider London 'slum clearance', including the infamous Beaconsfield Buildings (nicknamed 'the Crumbles').
Our frames are made in the traditional way, and go through fifty crafted stages of production over a period of six weeks including four separate stages of polishing to ensure a glorious lustre. Most of our frames are constructed with custom Cubitts pins that secure right through the acetate — this is called pin drilling. This process is done by hand and takes more time and skill, but means hinges can be easily maintained.
We offer a wide range of prescription lenses, including single vision lenses, higher indexes for stronger prescription, and progressives. Our sunglass offer full category 7, UV400 protection, including polarised lenses and Zeiss mirrors.
