Buttons and Why They Make a Difference

Have you ever thought much about buttons?

Well, they make more difference than one would imagine. Imagine a lovely navy blue suit. As an example say one has navy buttons that blends into colour of the suit, so they don't stand out, but they look slick and clean. Now imagine the same suit with say off white buttons. These would really stand out and draw in the eye. They would also completely transform the look of the suit or jacket and create a bold contemporary look.

We keep an extensive range of buttons in many interesting colours, including our special ones which are made of mother of pearl and come in grey, white or blue. These create a beautiful luxury finish.
We also have buttons made from corozo (a type of nut) polyester, and horn buttons, a sustainable natural button made from by products of the meat industry.
You can also choose covered buttons, which can be made from any fabric you choose for your suit for a luxurious feel. Especially great on a double breasted suit.

Buttons were first used more than 2000 years ago in India and the Middle East, and were made of sea shells, or wood which were carved, and were used for decoration and status more than just a fastening.

How many buttons that you choose to put on your jacket is another choice you have. For example for the cuff we normally use 3 buttons, but the choice is yours.  It could be one button for a minimal look or it could be 4 for a bolder statement. Same with the fastening buttons, normally it’s 2 buttons but sometimes one button looks great and can give a more formal line, especially on a tuxedo.

So you see, when you spare a thought for the buttons, you can create a whole new look!

Wear it well.
