Ozzy, Czech & Speake, Joe Lycett and Andrew Weatherall. A Unique Combination!
Last week I had the privilege of attending a private view of the comedian Joe Lycetts exhibition 'Every Thing Must Go' at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It is a wonderfully colourful collection of paintings celebrating things that are no longer with us. It features extinct animals, deceased celebrities, destroyed buildings and discontinued chocolate bars. All painted in his uniquely bright and humerous style. The result is joyous.
I (Lizzie) made the pilgrimage up to Birmingham as he has painted a beautiful portrait of my dear late partner, the DJ and producer Andrew Weatherall, who passed away in February 2020, and our dear friend David Charles who tragically left us the same year. Joe had met Andrew several times through David, and spent time listening to his music as a soundtrack to these works. I feel Joe has captured the truly playful side of Andrew, and the mischievous side of David perfectly. Thank you Joe.

Its not often that Andrew Weatherall and The Prince of Darkness are mentioned in the same sentence, however, during the same visit, another brilliant brummie, Ozzy Osbourne, was celebrated with an excellent intstallation within the gallery. As you know we are big fans of the independent fragrance brand Czech & Speake here at Mr Start. Well it turns out that Ozzy was also a fan for over 30 years!
