The Wes Anderson Archives At The Design Museum

I recently had the pleasure of vistiting the Wes Anderson Archives exhibition at the Design museum. It was an absolute feast for the eye. To see the detail and care and process that goes into the big picture was a dream. Below are books by Eleanor Zissou made for the life Aquatic.

It's a chronological walk through of Wes's oeuvre, and maps the collaborations with his brother, the various actors, artists and producers he's worked with over the years.

Standouts for me were the props from Asteroid City, and the puppets and props from Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr Fox. You can see the model of the Darjeeling Unlimited, the Grand budapest hotel, the tent from moonrise Kingdom, and the submarine from A Life Aquatic, along with clips from the films, and of course the iconic costumes.

But what came across in abundance was how meticulous his work is. Every detail considered down the tiniest. There was even a newspaper printed with actual stories relating to the film, written out in full. Astounding. And the vending machines are a joy.

It's time well spent if you go- even just to see the delight on the other visitors faces too.

On until 26th July
